I followed the pattern almost exactly (the only modifications I made were for fit) and used some cheap Bernat Satin in Sable.
The color in this picture is the closest to it's actual color.
(Don't mind my stupid expression.)
...and this was the only good shot that I could get of my back. Trust me. I tried everything. No amount of wiggling could get a better one.
Since I barely used any of the second ball of yarn to finish the bolero, I knitted up a scarf with the left over. It isn't anything fantastic, and it only took my two days to finish. Although I think that the cable pattern that I came up with is pretty (and ridiculously simple), I didn't want a brown scarf. Who does? Apparently my Daddy. He was the sucker that finally accepted my offer of an el cheapo scarf.
